My coworkers raved about this place and so I eventually went to get lunch with them there.
I got the Salad lunch special. It was supposed to come with cornbread, but to my disappointment, when I opened the foil..it wasn't cornbread but got a toasted/buttered hamburger bun.
Any way, I got the brisket and asked for more burnt pieces and it was pretty perfect. Super filling meal. They have a condiments station where you can get some extra sauce to take with you. -

Entered and looked at the menu. Decided what to order. When we went up to the cashier to order she rudely told us that the lunch special is only Friday-Sunday. We asked her about the menu because it stated Monday-Friday and tried to find what was available. She was very snippy and told us "we just changed it" and then began pointing at the board which was written over with marker.
Had it not been for the attitude we would have stayed to eat. -

Loved every bite (and the bonus of a healthy round of leftovers)! We came in with a party of 8 to celebrate my Dads birthday. The menu is expansive and we covered a bit of it with our orders. Starting with my favs... cornbread was yummy, soft and just a little sweet. Okra was excellent and had the whole table sharing, even those of us who dont typically like okra. It was a cornmeal battered affair with great seasoning and perfectly cooked to a crunchy outside and tender inside. And the bbq beans?! Left us wanting more! Definitely recommended. The table also shared an order of "smoked burnt ends," a unique offering that was loved! Sauce was excellent and the smokiness came though nicely. Salsa was excellent too! Was enjoying the salsa with the okra quite a bit. Yum!! The other orders we tried were pulled pork sandwich with potato salad (2 thumbs up from Dad), ribs (2 thumbs up from brother in law), and one of the chicken dishes but cant remember which one (2 thumbs up from Sister). Nephew has resolved to come back with a bigger appetite to try the Texas Chainsaw Sandwich (beef brisket, pulled pork, ham, hot link, bacon, over-easy egg, cheese, onion rings, coleslaw, fries, BBQ sauce and ranch).
Lastly, the family who runs this place does so with care and pride. So cool to see that (rare). We will be back when we are in the area, which I hope will be soon!! -

I can't understand why anyone would give this place less than a 5 star rating. Food was amazing and the people are very friendly. BBQ places like this are hard to find, especially in so Cal.
